[Solved] Concatenate cells based on another column

Postby sainudeen » Wed Sep 13, 2017 10:48 am

Hi all
I am attempting to concatenate multiple values into 1 cell. I need to concatenate the values in column B (StoreNbr) based on the values in column A (MKT NAME). I have roughly 155 markets that I need to concatenate the store lists for and doing it manually would take a long time, hoping to find a shortcut.

MKT NAME StoreNbr
UAS 0105
UAS 0106
UAS 0111 Concatenate only Market USA stores
INDIA 0146
INDIA 0114 Concatenate only Market INDIA stores
CHINA 0445
CHINA 1255
CHINA 5545 Concatenate only Market CHINA stores

Sainu.. :)

MKT NAME StoreNbr
UAS 0105 0106 0111
INDIA 0146 0114
CHINA 0445 1255 5545

Is this what you want? If so see [Solved] Group values into columns with headers from another. You would group values into rows instead of columns, but the process is the same. Just put the Counter in Column Fields and the catetory (MKT NAME) in Row Fields. You will find it instructive to enter the data in that post and follow the detailed steps there.

If this solved your problem please go to your first post use the Edit button and add [Solved] to the start of the title. You can select the green checkmark icon at the same time.

I think, you need write your own concatenate function for this task.

A similar topic:
https://forum.openoffice.org/en/forum/v ... ro#p395195

and a simple example:
MyConcat2.ods
(12.19 KiB) Downloaded 4 times
Tibor Kovacs, Hungary; LibreOffice4.4.7 on Win7x64Prof.
And the portable versions: LO3.3.0-LO5.3.4 and AOO4.1.3
Please, edit the topic's initial post, and add the word "[Solved]" at the beginning of the subject line - if your problem has been solved.
